[ S T R A N D  :  2 S t a r s ]

Mrs. Strand was my English teacher in 9th grade. She didn't really teach that well, or get involved in our class. In fact the first 3 weeks of class, she didn't even show up. Can you believe that? She was having some surgery on her knee, which didn't heel until the end of the semester. Still she made no effort to help out her class. The good things that were offered in this class were. 1) Lot's and Lot's of social time. 2) Easy to sneak something by with out her notice. 3) This could be good or bad; she doesn't grade your essays. She has her students grade most of the stuff in class. 4) Lot's of group projects, mainly everything is done in groups except for essays, which are graded in groups. 5) Silent Reading Fridays. This was my favorite. I got to stare at a book for 45 minutes and do nothing. This is what I called Pointless Fridays. She would sometimes leave the room these days, to grade papers, and not return until the end of the period. This gave us the chance to do whatever we wanted. There is no way for her to check how much reading you have completed because there are no questions, essays, or tests on the book that you choose for your silent reading. I would recommend this teacher to whoever is mediocre in English and can survive a class where socializing is usually active throughout the period.
